How Do I Wash My Car After a Ceramic Coating Is Applied?

Updated: Jun 24

Firstly, congratulations on investing in a ceramic coating for your vehicle. This remarkable protective layer not only enhances the aesthetics of your car but also shields it from various external elements such as UV rays, dirt, and minor scratches.

Please note:

We do not recommend EVER utilizing an automated brush car wash, friction wash, or hybrid wash to wash your vehicle after a ceramic coating was applied.

Touchless Automated Car Washes are okay after 1-2 weeks of cure time after a ceramic coating has been applied.

Our preferred method is washing at home utilizing a Foam Cannon.

STEPS:

The first step in cleaning your car after a ceramic coating is the pre-wash process. This involves rinsing your vehicle thoroughly with a hose/clean water to remove loose dirt and debris.

The goal is to prevent unnecessary scratching during the subsequent washing stages.

After the pre-wash, use a pH-neutral car shampoo and a microfiber wash mitt to gently cleanse the surface of your vehicle. Avoid abrasive sponges or brushes that may damage the ceramic coating.

It is crucial to rinse your car thoroughly to ensure all shampoo residue is removed. Leftover residue can interfere with the clarity of your ceramic coating and negate its protective properties. Once you have rinsed off all the shampoo, utilize a high-quality clean microfiber towel to dry your car.

Next we recommend using a maintenance spray or a quick detailer.

These products provide a boost to the existing coating, refreshing its hydrophobic properties and revives the shine. Apply the maintenance spray according to the instructions provided on the product label, utilizing an additional clean microfiber cloth for even application.

Lastly, it's more of a tip than a step but...it is wise to minimize contact with your vehicle's surface as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary leaning on the car or placing objects on your vehicles exterior, as these actions may create swirl marks or micro-scratches that diminish the coating's appearance.

In conclusion, cleaning your car after a ceramic coating is a process that is easily done if you have the right tools and know how. In this case we hope we helped you!
